Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32

One morning while I was out running errands I decided to stop by McDonald’s to grab some breakfast. So I placed my order and drove around to the window to pay. When I got to the window the cashier says the car before you has already paid you can move forward to pick up your order at the next window. That simple act of kindness made my morning so much brighter. So as I was driving home I had so much gratitude in my heart wondering how can I pay this forward. The scripture reminds us that we serve a God who looks at our heart (1 Samuel 16:7) and God was definitely looking at my heart that morning.

I remember being in line behind several cars waiting on the light to change and I saw this lady walking from car to car. I wasn’t sure what she was doing so by the time I got to the stop light it had turned red. The lady walked over to my car and said “excuse me ma’am do you have a few dollars so I can get me something to eat?” I said sure and reached in my purse and handed her $20.00 and while I was handing her some money the person in the car at the light across from me called her over. So she took the money I gave and walked over to the other car. Then I saw this truck stop in the middle of the street and a young lady got out and gave her money.

When I say my cup was running over with gratitude I am not exaggerating. I don’t know how long that young lady had been standing out there but I do know that one act of kindness can spread like wild fire. God saw my heart that morning I wanted to return that same kindness I received at McDonald’s, and God ordered my steps and so many others.

Being mean and rude only strips us of the joy God wants to give us. Being kind and compassionate to one another is what God is calling His children to. I know sometimes people can be rude and do hurtful things intentional but don’t allow people to inflict the pain and insercuties they suffer from on you. Forgive them and even if you have to go to God countless times because satan tries to make you replay the hurt over and over again, Keep going to God asking Him to help you to geniunely forgive them. God wants us to forgive just as in Christ God has forgiven us.

Your journey to healing is connected to being kind to yourself and being kind to others. We have an enemy satan and he wants to keep us in bondage by being mean and unforgiving, but today and the days to come, choose Jesus and choose kindness. Remember your acts of kindness is connected to someone’s break through.

Prayer

Spirit of the living God, thank you! Thank you for being so kind and compassionate towards me. I pray this evening for every person who may be struggling with unforgiveness. Someone who has been mistreated so many times, by so many people, that they have put up a wall around them. Where kindness once resided is now filled with bitterness and regret. Father this evening will you lift that burden from their hearts and draw them to repentance. Heal the broken hearted Lord God, renew their minds, and fill their hearts with kindness and compassion. May they receive the victory in Christ Jesus. Let them know God that you care about everything they have gone through and you want to heal them in every area of their lives. This is my prayer in Jesus name, Amen.
