1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
If you knew a vicious animal was preying on you and your family, seeking an opportunity to attack and devour you and your entire family. Would you sit back and do nothing?
Satan wants us to be helpless and feel we are unable to resist him but when you submit yourself to God you have the power to resist the Devil and he will flee from you James 4:7 tells us that. The key word is to submit yourself to God.
So often we think we can fight the enemy on our own and don’t need God and that’s exactly what the Devil wants us to think. We can’t escape the snares of the enemy without God. God is the one who provides a way of escape for us. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) says, ” There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
God has provided a way of escape so we want be devoured by the enemy. Anytime you are being hunted, persecuted, or tormented by the Devil there is a way of escape.
We have to pray and ask God for help to overcome the enemy. We need to study God’s word so we can recognize who the enemy is and use the sword of the spirit which is the word of God to defeat him.
Satan has his agents on the prowl also. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (KJV) says, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
It saddens me to see God’s children so desperate for worldly gain they are following false teachers and false doctrine. Many have become so anxious to look like they are blessed they are no longer following the truths of God’s word.
They have succumb to truths mixed with error. Believing you can have what you say without walking in obedience is deception and many of God’s children are being deceived.
How heart broken our Heavenly Father must be to see His children chasing money, houses and cars, but have not completely surrendered in obedience to Him.
How long will God’s children be deceived by Satan believing the more material things you own the more blessed you are? There are rich people who are miserable and empty because they do not know the Lord. True riches are not material worldly gain.
Luke 16:11 (KJV) “If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?” All that we gain on this earth will be consumed. Let’s be diligent in our walk with God so we won’t be consumed with it.
If Satan knows your weakness is money, cars, and houses then that is what he will use to devour you! Satan is prowling and looking for ways to steal your joy, marriage, job, child, health, and your sanity. Do not give him the ammunition to do that by not having a fervent prayer life. We have to seek God first in everything we do.
Prayer is what keeps us connected to God. Studying the word of God helps us to identify false teachings and false preachers, prohets, and apostles. I believe can be chanted over one hundred times but unless you actually believe those words are worthless.
God is not impressed with chanting and loud repetition of words that stirs the crowd. He wants us to walk in obedience and believe in His saving grace.
We can not become ignorant and allow Satan to entice us with worldly gain. Are you being lured away from God by chasing money and fame?
Now is the time to repent! If you are going to chase after anyone it is best to chase after Jesus. He loves you more than anything and wants to see you saved.
God is not with holding anything good from you. Psalms 84:11-12 says, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” “O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.”
Do we trust in God? Do we have high moral standards? Are you a person of integrity and honesty? We will be held accountable for what we do and how we do it.
God has so much more to offer than worldly gain. He wants to give each of us eternal life. Matthew 6:19-21 (KJV) says, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
The closing question is, “who or what has your heart?”
I pray that Jesus has your heart if He does not He is waiting on you to give Him your heart today!
